Kobe stays in Lakers

Kobe is sure to hold on his lakers jersey for next three years. He said he had no thoughts about going elsewhere even while speculation had suggested otherwise.

The deal means the Lakers achieved two main objectives going into the season — signing Bryant and Pau Gasol to extensions. “We were able to accomplish those goals, helping to keep the core of this team intact for the foreseeable future and in turn help to ensure the franchise’s continued success over the years to come,” General manager Mitch Kupchak said Friday on the team’s Web site. Financial terms of Bryant’s deal weren’t announced. Gasol signed earlier in the season. The 31-year Bryant could have terminated the last two years of his contract and become an unrestricted free agent last July. He could have secured a new, longer deal if he had opted out, but he wouldn’t have necessarily made more money.

Coach Phil Jackson said he expected that Kobe would sign. It's a good choice for him and the organization.

Bills Edwards wants to make fresh start

Quarterback Trent Edwards with bills jersey arrived for the start of the team spring voluntary workout program eager to show he has the ability to play the season.

If that means having to compete to reclaim the starting job, that was fine with Edwards on Tuesday. Addressing reporters for the first time since November, shortly after losing his starting job to Ryan Fitzpatrick, Edwards acknowledged his critics and accepted a share of the blame for the offense’s struggles, which contributed to the Bills’ 6-10 finish.

Edwards alluded to confusion as being a problem.

Earl Thomas meeting with several teams

According to an NFL source with knowledge of the situation, Earl Thomas plans to meet with Miami Dolphins on Tuesday night at the University of Texas.

And Thomas is also set to visit the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday and Friday. Thomas has previously conducted a private workout for the New England Patriots in Austin.
At 5-foot-10, 208 pounds, Thomas has outstanding instincts, range and is a physical tackler. He’s also being evaluated as a cornerback prospect by some NFL teams. Tomas ran the 40-yard dash in 4.43 seconds at the NFL scouting combine, also bench pressing 225 pounds 21 times. He also has been scheduled for several other visits, including Chiefs, Jaguars, Browns and the Titans.

Look for Thimas to go in the first round, perhaps higher than originally anticipated. We wonder which kind of the NFL jersey he will wear.

Sharper has not visited anyone else

Free-agent FS Darren Sharper with saints jersey told public that he still has not made a visit to another team.

"Right now, I am just concentrating on my rehab so I'm ready for OTAs wherever I'm playing." he told the paper. Sharper had minor cleanup surgery on his left knee in early March. He said he doesn’t know when he’ll be back to full speed and declined to discuss his search for a team. The Saints haven’t ruled out bringing him back.

Coach Sean Payton told the paper they’ll see. they’ll do that process, Certainly he’s a guy who was a big factor in our success a year ago. You know he’s a guy who not only us, (but) I’m sure a handful of teams are paying attention to.

Plus, Brown drifted twice into the oncoming traffic lane, "narrowly missing an approaching southbound vehicle." He also drove past a "blind curve," and was charged with improper lane use.

Samari not expected to play again

Veteran cornerback Saman Rolle never wear his ravens jersey any more.

Rolle has undergone a couple of neck surgeries and has said he is extremely unlikely to continue to play, but hasn’t officially retired. "There’s been no indication that I’ve heard from anybody that Samari is going to be physically ready to play," Ravens coach John Harbaugh said. "If that changes, great. We would have to be very convinced that he would have no risk.” Earlier this year, Rolle indicated that he was essentially hanging up his cleats, barring some kind of medical breakthrough.

Rolle said he had two neck surgeries and at his age if some one show him scientifically that he can't hurt himself, then, he will quit.

Nets' paper-bagged fan

A fan wore a paper bag over his head during the loss of the players with nets jerseys. Chief executive argued with the fan and said he had no regrets about his behaviour.

CEO Brett Yormack said in a statement Tuesday he wanted to let the fan know he didn’t agree with the way he was expressing his opinion. Yormark approached the fan during a 99-89 loss to Miami on Monday night. He asked why he was wearing the bag. When the fan told him because the Nets were so good, Yormark exchanged words and pointed a finger at him. The fan held up his tickets, and Yormark walked away.

The nets are on the edge of the record for fewest wins in an NBA season. Yormack said despite the frustrations he will continue to stand up for the organization.
